Introduction
- In this tutorial we will explain the necessary steps to add an MX record and redirect emails to the Google mail server.
- An MX record is a type of resource record in the domain name system that specifies a mail server responsible for accepting email messages on behalf of the recipient's domain and a preference value used to prioritize mail delivery, available.
Requirements
- cPanel administration details
- The Google MX records that you can find on the page https://support.google.com/a/answer/174125?hl=en
Steps
- To add an MX record in the DNS zone editor, we will log into the cPanel account, go to the Domains section and click on Zone editor.
- A new page will open and here we will click on +MX Record.
- In this window we will start to add the MX records.
- In the Priority field, we add the priority, and in the next field the email server, all 5 email servers will need to be added for Google.
- The completion of this operation will be done by clicking on Add an MX Record.
- We will ensure that the registration below has been deleted.
- The only registrations necessary for the email server redirection to work are the ones below:
- In the example above, I used Google MX records, however, the procedure is the same, regardless of which provider we want to redirect emails to. We will only need the IP addresses of the external email servers and their priority, after which we will set them in cPanel, in the same way as the Google ones, from the instructions above.
- As an additional example, in the event that you have purchased the Spam Experts services, the MX records that you will set in the DNS fields of Zone Editor will be the ones below:
