Introduction
- The DNS (Domain Name Service) service converts domain names that are human-readable (e.g., example.com) to IP addresses that are machine-readable (e.g., 192.0.32.10). DNS relies on "DNS zones" that exist on the server to convert domain names to IP addresses.
- WHM provides the ability to delete a DNS zone from the DNS server management. This functionality is offered by DNS Functions, specifically Delete a DNS Zone.
Requirements
- Authentication details WHM. These details can be found in the email with the administration data of the reseller account or the VPS with cPanel/WHM.
Steps
- After logging into the WHM panel on the left side of the page, we will go to the DNS Functions section and click on Delete a DNS Zone. Alternatively, we can search for this menu using the search field at the top side.
- On the next page, we will select the DNS zone that we want to delete from the server (holding the CNTRL key allows us to select multiple DNS zones to be deleted), after which we will click the Delete button. This action will delete all DNS records associated with the selected DNS zone.
- In the next WHM window, we will see a report of the domains whose DNS zones are about to be deleted. To confirm, we will click again on Delete.
- If everything went smoothly we will be greeted by a success message.
