Introduction

This tutorial explains the necessary steps for adding a parked domain or addon domain.

Requirements

  • a valid domain
  • a cPanel account

Steps

  • To add an addon domain or subdomain, we will log in to the cPanel account and go to the Domains section.

Domenii de completare cPanel

  • And then we click on the Domains button which will take us to a new page where we will click on the Create A New Domain button.

    cPanel completion domains
  • In the first field below New domain name, we will add the name of the complementary or addon domain, in our case demo-hostico.ro. It is sufficient to fill in only the first field and click on the page for the other two fields and Document Root to be automatically filled in.
  • The completion of this operation will be done by clicking the Submit button, and a confirmation of the domain addition will appear on the screen.
  • It is important that after adding the supplementary or addon domain, we also change the nameservers in the domain management panel (e.g., Rotld) so that it becomes functional.
  • Make sure that the Share Document Root checkbox is not checked; if it is checked, the domain will be added as an Alias (redirecting to the main domain) instead of a standalone addon domain.
  • To add a Subdomain, the necessary steps are the same, but instead of entering a new domain name, we add the desired prefix alongside the domain (e.g.: store.Demo-Hostico.ro).

Creare domeniu de completare

  • We will be able to manually modify the other two fields if we wish to do so.
  • cPanel will automatically create a subdomain associated with the completion or addon domain, and the document root, the directory path associated with the completion/addon domain, can remain as suggested or can be modified depending on its necessity.
